The Trails of Ceylon is an independent travel guide dedicated entirely to Sri Lanka — the wonder island that the world is only just beginning to discover. We believe Sri Lanka is the world's most extraordinary travel destination: an island that packs the diversity of an entire continent into a space you can cross in a day.

This site was born from a deep love affair with Sri Lanka — its warmth, its food, its ancient history and its staggering natural beauty. After spending years exploring every corner of the island, we realised there wasn't a single comprehensive, honest and beautifully designed English-language resource to help travellers truly experience this island at its best.

So we built one.

What We Do

Every destination guide, itinerary and tip on this site is written from genuine first-hand experience. We don't rely on press trips or sponsored content to skew our opinions. When we tell you a guesthouse is wonderful or a beach is overrated, we mean it.

Our goal is simple: to give you everything you need to plan an incredible Sri Lanka trip — whether you have 5 days or 5 months.
